JFS scoring explainer

Sugar in JFS scoring.

Learn how JFS uses total or added sugar in scoring, how values are normalized, and how lower sugar can improve the component score.

Total sugar first

JFS uses total sugar when it is available. If total sugar is unavailable but reported added sugar is available, the scoring logic can use that value instead.

Weight in the score

Sugar contributes 18% of a full-data JFS rating, with lower amounts receiving a higher component score under the JFS rules.

See it in context

A JFS product rating uses multiple factors together. No single nutrition or ingredient signal determines whether a product is appropriate for you.
