Methodology

Transparent rules over black-box certainty.

Our goal is to make product comparisons understandable, reproducible, and appropriately cautious about incomplete data.

1. Retrieve available product data

JFS starts with available product, nutrition, and ingredient information from supported sources. If a barcode has no usable match, users can search or optionally use photo analysis.

2. Apply JFS scoring rules

Available nutrition and ingredient signals are evaluated using JFS rules. The app surfaces the factors behind the rating so users can understand why the score moved up or down.

3. Handle missing information

JFS should avoid fabricating certainty. Products that cannot be rated reliably can be skipped from recommendation flows, and source limitations should remain visible.

4. Compare like with like when possible

Smart Snack Swap and Compare are intended to help users evaluate practical alternatives. A higher JFS rating is a limited product comparison, not a guarantee that an item is suitable for an individual user.

5. Keep the user in control

JFS provides educational information. It does not make medical, dietary, or allergen-safety decisions for the user.
